The Royal Navy and RAF are on high alert after Russian warships were tracked in the English Channel.

The warships, which included corvettes Grad and Boikiy, the cruiser Marshal Ustinov, the destroyer Severomorsk belonging to the Udaloy class, and others, were seen sailing through the Channel on Thursday.

The vessels were tracked by the Royal Navy’s submarine-hunting frigates, HMS Tyne and HMS Portland, and by P8 Poseidon patrol aircraft from RAF Lossiemouth.

The Ministry of Defence said the Russian vessels were “operating in international waters” and that the Royal Navy and RAF were “monitoring their passage”.

The Russian ships’ movements come amid heightened tensions between Russia and the West over the war in Ukraine.

The UK has imposed a number of sanctions on Russia in response to the invasion, and has also supplied arms to Ukraine.

The tracking of Russian warships in the English Channel is a reminder of the country’s military power and its ability to project force into the West.

It is also a sign that Russia is willing to test the resolve of the West.

The UK government has said that it will continue to monitor the situation closely and that it is prepared to take further action if necessary.

The news that Russian warships have been tracked in the English Channel is a cause for concern. It is a reminder of the threat posed by Russia and the need for the UK to be vigilant.

The government has said that it is taking the matter seriously and that it is working with its allies to deter further Russian aggression.

The public can also play a role by being aware of the threat and by reporting any suspicious activity to the authorities.
